History
Abeno and Tennoji have many places of scenic beauty and historic interest that have inherited various histories from ancient times to the early modern period. These places include Shitennoji Temple, a famous temple with a tradition of more than 1,400 years; Abeouji Shrine, which was founded by Emperor Nintoku; and Abe no Seimei Shrine, where Abe no Seimei, a well-known onmyoji (a practitioner of a traditional Japanese form of esoteric cosmology called "ommyodo, a mixture of natural science and occultism) is enshrined.

With Osaka City Museum of Fine Arts, which houses various important cultural properties, verdant Tennoji Park that includes Keitakuen, a traditional Japanese garden modeled after the style of Daimyo Gardens (gardens constructed by daimyos in the Edo period), and Tennoji Zoo, which is crowded with many children and their parents-Abeno and Tennoji are loved by Osaka City residents as an oasis in the center of the city where they can enjoy nature and culture.
